How to make a fruit parfait.

Last Friday on the 11 of November we made a fruit parfait with our buddy class room 2.
  • Here is a recipe and instructions on how to make it!
  • You will need yogurt
  • fruit like grapes and kiwi
  • peach and banana
  • Apple
  • Muesli and weetbix
  • Milk and yogurt
  • cups and knives
  •  spoons and chopping board

First you wanna chop up all your fruits. If you are working with kids they should be supervised or they should be using a small and not really sharp knife. We don't want any fingers to get chopped off. Then you want to pour your muesli and weetbix into a bowl. The reason why we are using weetbix is because if you have a nut allergy you can use weetbix.

But you can also use weetbix  if you don't  like weetbix.
Next grab some yogurt. Make sure it is a big tub of yogurt. But if it isn't pour it into a bowl. After that you are reading to start.  Start off by putting in a table spoon full of yogurt into the bottom of your cup a thin layer. Grab your choice of fruit and put it on top of the yogurt. Then muesli/weetbix. Repeat the steps until your cup is FULL!
So next time you are hungry you can make a fruit parfait. Here are some tips.
  • Don't put heaps of yogurt in if you are a child or have a little sis/bro
  • Don't put to much yogurt in.
  • Don't use heaps of fruit if you are doing it at school or in a group.
  • Make sure you have enough ingrediaents.
Thank you for reading. Have you tasted fruit parfaits?
Have you tasted a regular parfait.

Athletics: Shot put.

Shot put
As some of you may know we have been doing athletics this term.
Today our coach taught us about shot put and some tips!
Shot put balls are very hard and if you throw one you could easily break your wrist.
Valerie Adams is New Zealand shot put star!
If you have held a shot put ball before did you realise how heavy it is?
Today we were using different shot put balls for our lesson and all I could say is that it would probably be 90% lighter then a normal shot put ball!
We learnt something called dirty neck , dirty fingers , clean palms!
What this means is that you should be holding the shot put ball with your fingers and putting it on your neck. Your palms should not be touching the shot put ball.
We also learnt that you should twist your arm so you could see your wrist and palm.
You shouldn't throw the ball. Just rock then...PUSH!
As I said before if you throw an actual shot put ball you could break your hand.
So we have now come to the conclusion of this post remember these simple steps!
1.Dirty fingers
                                                                        2.Dirty neck
3.clean palm
4.Twist your hand so that you could see your palm
5.Don't throw the ball.
So if you are doing athletics maybe this can help you with shot put!

New world trip.

  Our trip to New world
Today at 11.00 o'clock we went down to New world.
We went there to do some labelling on healthy food and unhealthy food.
We had to look at labels of Milk products, cereals, snacks, muesli bar's and bread.
We had to  choose a healthy option and a sometimes eat option.
For example I will do brown bread as a everyday option and white bread as a sometimes option.
We started in the muesli bar isle. We got to choose a healthy and a unhealthy option. I chose nature valley and oat muesli bar. The healthy was nature valley oats and honey.
When you label it it must be like this: Energy:lower amount
Fat total:less then 10g , sugar less than 10g Dietary fibre more than 5g
sodium less than 400mg. If you are doing milk products it will have calcium. Calcium for strong bones and teeth.
We had to fill out a piece of paper with names like bread breakfast cereals and stuff.
After muesli bar we went onto snacks. This is where we can choose out of crackers, chips, chocolate or other snack foods. But we couldn't do two chocolates that were different. We had to choose lollies and crackers or chocolate and chips. Why? Because we don't eat chocolate everyday. Also because it isn't a healthy option. I will now explain the labelling.
On the side of cereals or other foods there should be a column. It will have the energy, fat total, sugar, dietary fibre and sodium. Now at the top it will say per 100g. Now that's what you want to write down when you are at the supermarket. What one is healthy? and what one isn't healthy. When I was little something called yakult was made for kids. But the thing was it had no calcium. So other parent's are wasting there money thinking that there children will get strong. Then LOOK closely at the label. NO CALCIUM.
Just like nut bars when they say: fruity muesli bar. With apricot raisins and oats. That is a LIE. When I was little my dentist told me to stop eating specific muesli bars because they weren't healthy and they weren't helping my TEETH. People should look at the labels on there food before they get it. For example if your mum wants to get white bread because it is yum. Tell her to get multi grain or wheat meal. Like my dad he gets me wheatmeal bread. When I was little I use to feel left out because my friends had white bread and I had brown bread. But I actually had healthy bread.
Here are some tips.
Uncle Toby porridge is another good breakfast option.
some crackers are healthy.
So remember to read the labels and find healthier food options.
