PB4L

What we do when others get hurt
This morning for PB4L we learnt about what we should do when others are hurt.
Number-1: Always tell the teacher on duty. Don't take them to the sick bay it is the teachers call.
Number-2: Don't crowd around the victim because they need air and if you surround them. Not enough air will come through for them to breathe.
Number-3: If the teacher needs help be a responsible helper.
Number-4: Now that you have helped a little bit. The teacher will either say: Go have a little sit , Go have a drink of water or...Can you take him or her to the sick bay please.
Now take the victim to where the teacher told you to take them.
But if you just have a little cut there is no need to go to the office. The duty teacher will already have band aids. Just ask the teacher on duty for a band aid.
But what if the teacher had no band aids?
If all of the duty teachers have no band aids. The last teacher you will ask might send you to the office to get some band aids.
So there it is. When you see someone hurt just follow this.
Thank you for reading!

Hour of code.

On Wednesday the 7th of December we did hour of code. We did it with our buddy class room 2.
Here is me and my buddy. We got to pick a coding game out of Mine craft , star wars and Moana. Me and my buddy Rosa from room 2 chose Moana. I have to admit it was pretty hard especially getting her attention but thats because she is only little. Also when we were coding i was getting tired of clicking the "move forward" buttons. It was hurting my hand.
What is coding?
coding is when you have to use like codes or buttons that say "forward , left , right". The most challenging part is the zig zag. You can get mixed up with all the forward , right , forward left. It was really challenging and hard. When I was doing the Moana one we had to cut the rope and protect our self from the kakamora.
What did I learn?
When I was with my buddy I learnt to get her attention and make sure that she understands what we were doing. In the coding challenge I learnt that you don't just need arrows to find your way somewhere. You can use specific directions like turn right then move/drive forward. Or you can say turn left move forward then turn right. My lesson for next time is to keep on track. What I mean is when I do zig zag I should know where I am at when I do left , forward right.
So my question for you guys is...
Have you ever had an hour of code?

How to make a fruit parfait.

Last Friday on the 11 of November we made a fruit parfait with our buddy class room 2.
  • Here is a recipe and instructions on how to make it!
  • You will need yogurt
  • fruit like grapes and kiwi
  • peach and banana
  • Apple
  • Muesli and weetbix
  • Milk and yogurt
  • cups and knives
  •  spoons and chopping board

First you wanna chop up all your fruits. If you are working with kids they should be supervised or they should be using a small and not really sharp knife. We don't want any fingers to get chopped off. Then you want to pour your muesli and weetbix into a bowl. The reason why we are using weetbix is because if you have a nut allergy you can use weetbix.

But you can also use weetbix  if you don't  like weetbix.
Next grab some yogurt. Make sure it is a big tub of yogurt. But if it isn't pour it into a bowl. After that you are reading to start.  Start off by putting in a table spoon full of yogurt into the bottom of your cup a thin layer. Grab your choice of fruit and put it on top of the yogurt. Then muesli/weetbix. Repeat the steps until your cup is FULL!
So next time you are hungry you can make a fruit parfait. Here are some tips.
  • Don't put heaps of yogurt in if you are a child or have a little sis/bro
  • Don't put to much yogurt in.
  • Don't use heaps of fruit if you are doing it at school or in a group.
  • Make sure you have enough ingrediaents.
Thank you for reading. Have you tasted fruit parfaits?
Have you tasted a regular parfait.

Athletics: Shot put.

Shot put
As some of you may know we have been doing athletics this term.
Today our coach taught us about shot put and some tips!
Shot put balls are very hard and if you throw one you could easily break your wrist.
Valerie Adams is New Zealand shot put star!
If you have held a shot put ball before did you realise how heavy it is?
Today we were using different shot put balls for our lesson and all I could say is that it would probably be 90% lighter then a normal shot put ball!
We learnt something called dirty neck , dirty fingers , clean palms!
What this means is that you should be holding the shot put ball with your fingers and putting it on your neck. Your palms should not be touching the shot put ball.
We also learnt that you should twist your arm so you could see your wrist and palm.
You shouldn't throw the ball. Just rock then...PUSH!
As I said before if you throw an actual shot put ball you could break your hand.
So we have now come to the conclusion of this post remember these simple steps!
1.Dirty fingers
                                                                        2.Dirty neck
3.clean palm
4.Twist your hand so that you could see your palm
5.Don't throw the ball.
So if you are doing athletics maybe this can help you with shot put!
